ESILV has climbed 3 places, moving into the 5th position in the ‘Etudiant post-bac ranking, which includes 77 post-bac engineering schools (5-year programme).
L’Etudiant is a monthly renowned French magazine about education. Every year, its University league tables help thousands of students choose their master degree programme in engineering based on several performance criteria adapted to various students profiles and aspirations.
This year’s overall ranking includes 167 post-baccalaureate and post-preparatory (the 2-year program after high school to prepare for admission to the French “Grandes Ecoles”) private and public engineering schools. All the ranked schools are accredited by the “Commission des Titres d’ingénieurs” ( CTI) and award the “titre d’ingénieur” degree.
ESILV ranks 5th among the 77 schools offering a 5-year post-bac programme and it belongs to the groupe A of engineering schools (there are 4 categories: A+, A, B, C). Leonard de Vinci Graduate Engineering School gained 7 places in the combined ranking. 4 groups of criteria were selected for the overall ranking: academic excellence, international outlook, proximity to companies and social openness.
The Etudiant editorial team highlighted, among other double degree programmes, the “Engineer-Manager” diploma 5 years-programme at ESILV.
“Situated in Paris-La Défense (92), the Pole Leonard de Vinci offers a hybrid course, between the ESILV’s Engineering Master Programme and the EMLV’s Master in Management. The idea is to provide full training for the entire product cycle, from design to sales, including engineering, design and marketing,” Jérôme da Rugna, Deputy Director at ESILV explains. This will enable students to master the different languages of the two programmes and acknowledge different professionnal constraints.”
Etudiants’s 2020 ranking of the post-baccalaureate engineering schools
The “Palmarès de l’Etudiant” ranking lists 77 establishments offering a 5-year engineering course.
Therefore, ESILV is positioned in this ranking as :
- 5th post-baccalaureate school at the national level
- 1st post-baccalaureate school in Ile de France

A complete academic orientation tool for engineering studies
This year again, the editorial staff of the Etudiant proposes a general ranking based on 4 criteria: academic excellence, international outlook, proximity to companies and social openness.
To compile this ranking, the journalists relied on CTI and CDEFI certified data as well as a questionnaire sent out to engineering schools in the summer of 2019.
To help candidates in their choice of orientation, the magazine publishes in this number a complete “brief” on current trends in engineering schools: access routes, hybrid training, the integration of sustainable development in engineering programmes, innovative teaching methods.
The entire data and methodology used to rank French engineering schools can be found here.
