Inspired by the Israeli CyberSpark, the Cyber Campus aims to “raise the bar for French excellence ” in cybersecurity. ESILV is one of the 160 players involved in this “cyber-city”, a place for sharing innovations and good digital hygiene practices.
“Together, at the service of a great cybernation.” This is the motto of the Cyber Campus, an innovative hub located in the La Défense district of Paris. This 13-storey building gathers several companies, government services, and higher education and research partners on the same site. ESILV has been a member of the Cyber Campus working groups for several months now and has relocated some of its digital security-related courses to join the cybersecurity community.
The objective is to participate in programs and partnership projects that will emerge within this environment and raise the level of IT security in France.
Campus Cyber, a 4 pillar model
17,000 m2 of private or shared workspace, 6,000 m2 of project and innovation platforms, 3,000 m2 of space for training purposes… The Cyber Campus provides resources tailored to 4 pillars of action:
- Operations: data sharing, monitoring, detection and response capabilities, cyber threat observatory, “Threat Intelligence” database
- Training: increasing the overall competence of the ecosystem, sharing material and academic resources, training programs, raising awareness of cyber professions
- Innovation: creating synergies between startups and research centers, between public and private players, etc.
- Mobilization: organizing events and sharing information to accelerate the creation of a trusted digital society

ESILV’s participation in this national center for IT security is a way for the school to continue to position itself as a generalist engineering school at the heart of digital technologies, while at the same time strengthening the cyber component of its training. With this philosophy in mind, the school has been actively participating in the work of the various members of the Cyber Campus for several months. In this regard, we note the focus of several projects in engineering school over 2021-2022 on 4 major task groups:
- AI & cybersecurity
- Cryptomoney & cybersecurity
- Anticipation
- Training
These panels fuel the cyber ecosystem, strengthen ties, and inspire new careers. As a continuation of these activities, several ESILV students and teachers have taken up residence at the Cyber Campus, where they rub shoulders with leading companies in the sector: IBM France, Oracle, Cisco, Enedis, Generali, Vinci, Cyberark, Synetis and Tanium.
Preparing for a cybersecurity career with a Master’s Programme at ESILV
As part of their graduate studies at ESILV, students enrolled in majors such as Cybersecurity & Cloud Computing, IT, IOT & Security, or Industry 4.0 get expertise in highly complex or rapidly evolving cybersecurity tools such as machine learning, data science, secure system design, connected objects, forensics, digital twins. The IT, IOT & Security course has been awarded a SecNumedu label by France’s Cybersecurity Agency, ANSSI.
The statistics show that the global cyber skills gap is here to stay. According to the (ISC) 2021 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, the gap stands at 2.72 million professionals globally, with 60% of companies reporting that the workforce shortage is placing their organizations at risk. Cybersecurity Ventures predicts 3.5 million cybersecurity job openings in 2025, a situation that is not healthy for companies exposed to cyber-crime and highlights the urgent and persistent need to invest in cyber skills – and fast.
