Swaminath Venkateswaran, Teacher Researcher in Mechatronics at ESILV, recently embarked on a significant academic journey at the University of Vic (UVic) in Catalunya, Spain. This visit facilitated educational exchange and laid the groundwork for potential research collaborations between institutions.
During his tenure at UVic, Swaminath delivered lectures on Mobile Bio-inspired Robots and Parallel Robots to enthusiastic third-year students of Mechatronics Engineering. These lectures enriched the students’ understanding and sparked their curiosity in cutting-edge mechatronics technologies.

A highlight of Swaminath’s visit was exploring UVic’s Innovation Project Lab, where students engage in hands-on mechatronics projects. Witnessing the innovative spirit first-hand, Swaminath was impressed by the dedication and creativity exhibited by the students, reaffirming his belief in the power of practical learning experiences.
In addition to his teaching commitments, Swaminath seized the opportunity to present ESILV’s mobility program to second-year engineering students at UVic.
By showcasing the diverse majors available for enrollment in the semester exchange program, Swaminath aimed to guide students towards fulfilling academic experiences that align with their interests and career aspirations.

The ERASMUS Mobility program, which facilitates teaching and training activities between partner institutions, supported Swaminath’s visit.

Swaminath’s academic journey
Swaminath’s academic journey has a robust background in mechanical engineering underpin. Having earned his PhD from École Centrale de Nantes, France, in 2020, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role as a Research and Teaching Assistant at ESILV.
His previous experience as a mechanical engineering instructor and research member further enhances his ability to inspire and mentor the next generation of mechatronics engineers.
Swaminath’s research interests span a broad spectrum, including product design and analysis, mechanism kinematics, robot control, cobots for circular economy, and Industry 4.0.
His multidisciplinary research approach aligns perfectly with the collaboration and innovation ethos fostered by ESILV and UVic.
