Throughout their studies, ESILV engineering students must do several mandatory internships. In the fourth year, students in the Computer Science, Big Data and Connected Objects major complete a four-month work placement. Some of them have fulfilled machine learning missions for major companies, in France and abroad.
Machine Learning is an artificial intelligence technology which enables pattern recognition and predictions based on statistics and data mining.
Here is a selection of 6 engineering work placement missions related to machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence.
Development of a machine learning software for Renault SAS Spain
The ESILV engineering student recruited as an intern by French multinational automobile manufacturer Renault was entrusted with the task of developing a machine learning software. Its objective: predicting the potential motor breakdowns within the production line.
Required skills included command of machine learning and data analysis concepts, Python and R development, all aimed at improving industrial performance.
An autonomous monitoring robot for ip-label
Ip-label is a European leader for measuring end-user quality of experience for all digital applications. The ESILV engineering student who joined their team for a few months worked on an autonomous monitoring robot project. Goal was to come up with semantic analysis methods applied to websites in order to identify actions using image recognition.
The engineering student intern was asked to create prototypes, using skills such as web development, pattern recognition, Javascript among which NodeJS, Python, machine learning solution testing and semantic analysis.
A data science internship for bank Natixis
The ESILV student majoring in Computer Science, Big Data and Connected Objects was asked by Natixis to create data science solutions, including in a Big Data environment. Internship missions also included creation of technical documents and technology intelligence.
This mission for Natixis required skills in programming (Python, R), command of Data Science frameworks like Pandas, scikit-learn, Spark, TensorFlow, knowledge of machine learning and deep learning.
Soft skills were also mandatory for an optimal collaboration with the team.
A chatbot for Parisian University La Sorbonne
The internship consisted in implementing a computational chatbot on an educational platform called Greta, used by La Sorbonne University. The ESILV engineering student conceived and implemented a behavioral experimentation on the user reactions’ to the chatbot. Furthermore, he conducted data analysis so as to identify patterns in the users’ reactions.
This mission resorted to machine learning, statistic analysis and Java programming skills.
Bot trainer for Seville More Hélory
A tech and services company specialised in the digital transformation of legal organisations, Seville More Hélory offered an ESILV engineering student an internship as a bot trainer.
Missions included establishing conversation models for the chatbot designed for clients, with a gamification aspect. Machine learning was used so as to optimise the chatbot’s quality.
This machine learning internship required skills and knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, bot framework, Microsoft Azure environment, NoSQL, Agile software development…
Improving Bouygues Telecom’s service quality through machine learning and Big Data
Within the Quality and User Experience team of French mobile phone and Internet service provider Bouygues Telecom, the ESILV engineering student was in charge of developing innovative data analysis methods in order to model the user experience of mobile network clients.
These models used machine learning and big data methods, as user data amounts to several billions a day. This internship required skills in dashboard tools, data analysis techniques and the command of one or more languages such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS…
