IBM hosted a half-day session which presented to ESILV students the latest digital innovations and industry news and trends.
On 26th September, a meeting was held at the IBM Client Center Paris in Bois-Colombes between 5th year students in Computer Science, Big Data and Connected Objects and IBM experts.
What was on the agenda ? A recurring event addressed to IBM’s partner universities : Inside IBM, a half-day workshop on latest innovations and technologies, such as: quantum computing, AI, connected objects.
Over 200 students from different universities attended the 2019 edition of Inside IBM.
So what we do at IBM ?
The session opened with a plenary meeting which introduced the range of services offered by IBM: AI, Blockchain, Cloud, Security, Systems… The theme of the Quantum Computing has also been down the line. With Google claiming quantum supremacy, this is a hot topic in research and industry for the global Internet players these days.
The plenary meeting concluded with a roundtable by IBM engineers discussing their daily tasks: AI, predictive maintenance, blockchain tracking for food security, Cimon, the ISS’s (International Spatial Station) new robot and its two missions in in space. It was appropriate for the students to make the link between technology and business applications, one more time!
Thematic workshops, study visits and speed recruting
Inside IBM also incorporates a program of six thematic workshops for students participating in the operation:
- AI in today’s businesses
- IBM Cloud platform
- IoT use cases
- The phases of quantum computing
- Meet the IBM Research
- AI at the service of the distribution of goods, income and services
- The collapse of mainframe business
The half-day concluded with choice meetings held with IBM specialists available at the center. The students were able to visit the Start Up Center, the Innovation and Solution Center, they discussed jobs and careers and participated in speed recruiting sessions at the IBM Client Center Paris. The students also took part in a workshop on sharing of information and experiences with IBM interns and apprentices.
