Industry Innovation: Class 2022’s Virtual Project Showcase

Sustainable energy, IoT, health, mechanics, robotics, industry 4.0… This year, over 100 engineering student teams exhibited their industrial innovation projects during the ESILV virtual showcase.

ESILV’s annual Industry Innovation Engineering Showcase provides the students from 4th to 5th year a platform where they present the project work they have completed throughout the year. Each year, students put their technical and project management skills to work for their partners, companies, start-ups or student associations.

This year’s event moved online, and 4th-year students recorded presentations for the showcase, explaining the practical project work they’ve undertaken during this academic year.

A 2021 showcase to illustrate the way that industry innovation works

The Industry Innovation Project 4, or PI²4, occurs during the 2nd year of the engineering cycle at ESILV. A 4-student team works on a specific issue, researches concepts, and comes up with an innovative solution at the end of a hundred hours or so.

The issues dealt with correspond to the majors of the engineering programme: IT, connected objects and security, biotech health, industry 4.0, data and artificial intelligence, fintech, actuarial science, energy and sustainable cities, modelling and digital mechanics, financial engineering, innovation, research and manufacturing.

Some examples of projects handled by the 2022 class:

  • Searching for the best portfolio using genetic algorithms
  • Management of IoT gateways with blockchain
  • Application of deep learning in insurance: Protection and support for vulnerable customers
  • Connected objects in insurance
  • Patient qualification tool before pre-anaesthesia consultation
  • Gamification of cyber crisis management exercises
  • Capture The Flag competition
  • Automated design of assessments from educational texts
  • Wavelets in finance: estimating densities and singularities
  • Monitoring and predicting the operation of an industrial plant
  • Bank of the future – Cofidis – Oracle
  • Traceability of clothing via blockchain – GANT
  • Connected boat – Remote control
  • Evaluation of voice comparison systems
  • Design and manufacture of 3D orthopaedic equipment
  • Construction of the cybersecurity training of the Onepoint school
  • Smart Farming

Among the engineering projects carried out by students during their 4th year, some assignments were suggested by Pole Leonardo da Vinci’s technical clubs, such as LeoFly, DaVinciBoat, Vinci Eco Drive.

In recent years, interviews and recruitment success for students have also developed from the on-campus event, reinforcing the solid links and relationships ESILV has with industry partners.
