Students in New Energies major at ESILV visited Hive: the international headquarters of Schneider Electric, the first building in the world certified ISO 50001 and the first building in France to be triply certified ISO 14001, a good example of energy efficiency.
As part of the Pole Leonard de Vinci’s corporate partnerships, Schneider Electric invited students from New Energies major at ESILV to visit its premises.
The aim of this visit, proposed by Schneider Electric, was to show concretely the results of five years of work on energy efficiency at the Hive site in Rueil-Malmaison, France.
The Schneider Electric is a major player in the digital transformation of energy management and automation in homes, buildings, data centers, infrastructure, and industries.
Schneider Electric, the world specialist in energy management and automation
The company has carried out actions over the past five years to maximize its energy efficiency. For example, she moved her seat to the Hive, a newer and much better-insulated building. It has also set up a water/water heat pump or installed photovoltaic solar panels on the roof terrace.
That’s not all: Schneider Electric has managed the installation of connected sensors of the latest generation in the building. It replaced standard pumps with variable speed pumps for the ventilation system. She also made her employees aware of the actions taken.
In the car parks of the head office, the company also provided free charging stations for its employees using hybrid or electric vehicles. The incentive to good mobility practices, for all!
The ISO 50001 Standard
The ISO 50001 standard sets a framework of requirements for companies wishing to implement an energy management system.
This requires, among other things, more efficient use of energy policy and the setting of objectives to achieve in relation to this policy. It relies on the exploitation of data to better understand uses and energy consumption. But it is mainly based on the implementation of solutions to correctly evaluate the results obtained and permanently improve energy management.
