The French newspaper L’Etudiant ranked France’s best post-baccalaureate and post-preparatory engineering schools. This year, ESILV maintains its 2nd position in ranking out of 88 undergraduate schools.
The 2024 L’Étudiant ranking of engineering schools is one of the tools used to refine one’s orientation choices. The school also remains in the A+ group.
The criteria selected are unchanged compared to last year, with 11 ranking indicators, including academic excellence, international openness, proximity to companies, and openness to new audiences.
New criteria in 2024: apprenticeship and ecological transition
This year, L’Étudiant has included a criterion on apprenticeship as a professionalizing curriculum, implementing a different pedagogy.
Furthermore, the ranking considers the environmental dimension in this new ranking edition. The 19 schools, including ESILV, which obtained the DD&RS label on January 1, 2024, have been awarded two bonus points.
We have chosen to enrich the ranking by adding a criterion on apprenticeship as a professionalizing curriculum implementing a different pedagogy. The ranking as a comprehensive orientation tool for choosing an engineering school
The L’Étudiant ranking, designed as an orientation tool, allows students seeking information to personalize criteria and determine which school is best for them, drawing from about forty indicators.
For example, each reference profile (academic excellence, international openness, and proximity to companies) is measured based on ranking or non-ranking indicators. Among the criteria for academic excellence, we find the average high school grade of integrated students, the number of students per teacher, the proportion of teacher-researchers, etc.
To judge the proximity of schools to companies, L’Étudiant journalists rely on, for example, the proportion of students in apprenticeship, the duration of internships in companies, company forums, etc.
Regarding international openness, the percentage of international students, the required level of English, and the minimum duration abroad are as significant as the proportion of graduates who spent more than one semester abroad in academic exchange. Likewise, the proportion of graduates spending more than one semester abroad in internships and the number of students per international double degree agreement.
These criteria can guide your choice of an engineering school and are not limited to simple reputation or specialized rankings.
