ERASMUS & research: ESILV and MCI consolidate their academic links

The collaboration between ESILV and MCI Innsbruck demonstrates the importance of international exchanges in the academic field. These collaborations strengthen the links between the institutions, contribute to the advancement of scientific research, and underline the positive impact of the Erasmus exchange of teachers in Europe.

Achraf Kallel, professor at ESILV, was recently invited by MCI in Austria to lead a three-day seminar on the latest advances in research.
This event was part of an Erasmus exchange for teachers in Europe, aimed at strengthening links between academic institutions and maintaining the double degree agreement between ESILV and MCI.

Two-way collaboration between ESILV and MCI in the form of seminars

During his stay, Achraf Kallel discussed with Andreas Mehrle, head of the mechatronics department at the Entrepreneurial School®. These discussions highlighted the importance of bilateral exchanges as part of international cooperation.

Professors from Innsbruck regularly travel to Paris to give seminars. To promote two-way collaboration, seminars for Innsbruck teachers given by ESILV were set up to establish an annual tradition of exchanges.

This practice has evolved from simple seminars to more in-depth collaboration, including the co-supervision of master courses, the chairing of master juries, the publication of articles and the joint submission of a European project.

A solid partner: the relationship between ESILV and MCI

The relationship between ESILV and MCI has evolved beyond the educational framework, including collaboration on research projects.
2014, the two institutions signed a double-degree agreement, further strengthening their partnership.

However, despite the importance of this achievement, the news needed to be more widely communicated. Achraf Kallel has contributed to this cooperation by leading seminars yearly at MCI since 2015.

These seminars have focused on current scientific research, particularly digital twins and numerical simulation of manufacturing processes and innovative materials. This initiative has helped to deepen academic links and stimulate collaboration between the two institutions.

Research work between ESILV and MCI

In parallel to the seminars, Achraf Kallel worked on several scientific publications with Andreas Mehrle at international conferences and in leading journals. The weekly remote meetings were supplemented by face-to-face discussions, fostering closer synergy in their research work and strengthening the partnership.
