About ten students majoring in New Energies took part in the jury of Green Solutions Awards 2019, organised by Construction21, a social media tool and platform dedicated to improving sustainable building.
The Green Solutions Awards is a national and international contest for sustainable city solutions and actors. This competition is free of charge and embodies three main categories: buildings, districts and infrastructures that combat global warming. The 7th edition of the climate solutions contest was supported by Ademe, the French Environment & Energy Management Agency for climate change — ecological, energy transition and Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC).
Parallel to high-profile juries, ESILV engineering students have been picking their brains about French buildings on the cutting edge of the innovation and delibered their winner. They had a chance to have their voices heard while proving their involvement in the sustainable city.
About 80 students from 11 schools such as ESILV, CNAM, EIVP and Ecole of Mines de Saint-Etienne were deliberating on the buildings’ competition.
4th September 2019: The restricted student jury (one student per each participating school) elected the Best Project at the premises of the SupTertiaire Paris School
A big cheer to ESILV’s New Energies students : Alexandre Blaise, Camille Pechdimaldjian, Othman Waeterloos, Antonin Brunel, Alexis Vauclin, Corentin Lefort , Sébastien Garcia and Florent Baudet for their engagement while immersed in this competition.
We all got together and exchanged information about the sustainability and the impactful replication of the twenty selected innovative projects. We used our knowledge base and experiences in the areas of energies and sustainable development to decide on the most iconic French building in the field of energy transition in construction. Following our discussions, we decided I will represent ESILV’s stake in the jury that gathered in Suptertiaire Scool, on 4 September 2019, to choose the winning project for France. This meeting allowed me the opportunity to exchange with my peers from different Energy and Construction programme. The demonstrator écoconstruction de Beaulieu-lès-Loches, awarded 2019 best Green Solution
The Econstruction Pole’s award-winning energy-saving solution leverages agro-materials (plant-based materials) to improve thermal performance of the building. The Pole’s trademark – using natural technologies and materials native to its construction site – appeals to the professional bodies in the field of construction and to the manufacturers specializing in innovative green products. Hence, the demonstrator serves as Employee training ground for craftsmen and the workers in construction industry.
The Pole from Beaulieu-lès-Loches has won the Students’ Award
The brand-new building renovated from an old industrial facility demonstrates that renovating old edifices can significantly reduce carbon footprint compared to new premises.
