Take a look at the shapes of this futurist automotive! Don’t you imagine the most beautiful models imagined by Elon Musk? E-PULV Vision X, a monocoque electric vehicle, will be ready for the Shell Eco-marathon France and Europe in 2021. By making this bet: to enter the Top 10 of the continental competition.
The student automotive association of the Pôle Léonard de Vinci, Vinci Eco Drive, designs and builds efficient electric vehicles. Created in 2013, its ambition grows every year.
Each year, new projects are born. Thus in 2018, Vinci Eco Drive created its Formula Student department to participate in the international reference automotive competition within two years.
A simulation of the prototype using XFlow software by Dassault Systèmes
Alexandre Bruneau, E-PULV Vision X electric vehicle project leader, can be satisfied and take pride in the first simulations of the prototype. With a drag coefficient around 0.079, the monohull with its composite structure and aerodynamic fairings is in the big category.
It is thanks to XFlow, a software made by Dassault Systèmes, a project partner, that the students of the association were able to do their tests. Integrated into Simulia 3DS fluid simulation portfolio, XFlow is an innovative software. It allows to limit the physical tests and to decide on the design quickly and in a relevant way.
Thanks to this program, the students tested the vehicle in real conditions. Advanced rendering features helped them better visualize flow performances.
Shell Eco-marathon 2019: first tests on the circuit of Mortefontaine
The racing drivers tested the improvements to the existing automotive prototype, especially the new windshield. The bodywork of the prototype was entirely realized by the members of the association. It is composed of braided carbon fibers and NOMEX. A material like a honeycomb for a monohull both solid and lightweight.
