Discovering 3DEXPERIENCE with Vinci Eco Drive, Engineering Racers Bracing for Innovation

When the team at Vinci Eco Drive set out to design and build their formula-type car and Efficiency Prototype, they knew they needed a powerful tool to bring their ideas to life. That’s where Dassault Systems’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform came in.

In a recent video, Dassault Systems highlighted the ways in which the student club used the platform to turn their engineering dreams into reality, taking on competitions like Shell Eco-Marathon and Formula Student Germany. Formed nine years ago, Vinci Eco-Drive is a student club on the Devinci Higher Education campus, that designs, builds, tests, and races energy-efficient, agile and fast cars.

Vinci Eco Drive & 3DEXPERIENCE

The Vinci Eco-Drive has used the 3DEXPERIENCE platform by Dassault Systems to develop a fully electric racing car for the Shell Eco Marathon competition, which can travel 3,800 kilometers on one liter of fuel.

The platform has also been instrumental in the development of a hybrid electric car for the Formula Student Germany competition, allowing the team to design and simulate the car and collaborate in real time on the multidisciplinary project.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform has allowed the team to work efficiently and seamlessly, even as team members change year after year, and has enabled them to complete the engineering cycle on a single platform.

The team is working to finish their project in time to compete and win the 2023 Formula Student competition in April at Germany’s Hockenheimring F1 racetrack.

In this competition, teams of students design and construct a single-seat racecar to compete against others from around the globe. Winning is not solely determined by the speed of the car, but rather by the team’s overall performance in construction, financial and sales planning, and vehicle performance.

By competing in one of the largest student engineering competitions in the world, students have the chance to not only improve their technical skills, but also to learn about teamwork, project management, and the automotive industry. Through this experience, they can gain a deeper understanding of these areas and develop valuable skills that will benefit them in their future careers.
