Developing a Startup in Engineering School? Project Startup Ping 2019 at ESiLV

The freedom that comes with creating a startup can’t be beat, especially since it’s not restricted to one industry. The sky is the limit, particularly in the engineering sector where students get to combine creativity and technicality with a dash of entrepreneurial spirit.

ESiLV engineering school hosted a showroom day with its third year students for them to showcase the projects they’ve been working on during the year.

“Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth.” – Peter Drucker

Engineering School Challenges its Students

The projects developed by the students were startup-oriented with no particular brief, which gave them the liberty to dive into the different sectors in specialities of engineering. The ideas varied from smart robots that gather plastic waste to either sell them to companies or to recycle their use and create new usable materials, to a smart finance mobile application that creates a financial calendar for the users to track their budget.

A touch of Virtual Reality and Eco-Friendliness

Another group integrated VR and mixed reality to their concept: they developed a collaborative platform for 3D tutorials that can be accessed via smart phones and 3D visualizer. That’s not all, another group suggestion was to create system that supports sustainable and local economy.

About ESiLV

ESILV, Leonard de Vinci Graduate School of Engineering is a general engineering school at the heart of digital technologies. The educational project of ESILV revolves around science and digital technology combined with 4 major specializations: IT, digital and mechanical modeling, quantitative finance and new energy. ESILV is a member of the CGE, the UGEI, the CDEFI and Campus France. And the Showroom projects are at the core of the learning experience and constitue a significant milestone in the progress of the young engineers.

Engineers will always be needed to spread their expertise, and when it comes to business, they have the potential to be seen as far more valuable than their degree holding competitors in the market, since they will be seen at a higher level for their entrepreneurial innovation and creative capabilities.
