DaVinciCode, the cybersecurity student club of the De Vinci Higher Education, organized a weekend-long CTF competition, which was open to all hacking enthusiasts, students or not. This year, the competition gathered almost 2,000 participants and 1,200 teams from all over the world around thirty security challenges conceived during engineering projects at ESILV.
The digital security hype and CTF-type events are the perfect scenes to spark creativity and make it easier to learn technical skills in engineering school. For the second year in a row, the DaVinciCTF international cybersecurity competition has been a great source of inspiration for engineering school projects.
DaVinciCTF 2022, a cyber event consisting of 30 challenges
From March 11 to 13, more than 1,000 teams of cyber enthusiasts from all over the world confronted each other around technical challenges designed by DaVinciCode, the cyber security student club of the De Vinci Higher Education.
The flags were embedded in challenges put together by the DeVinciCTF members and covered key areas: reverse engineering, forensics, cryptography, web, pentest, OSINT, stenography…
The contest featured teams made up of 4 participants of all levels from all over the world. In this jeopardy-style competition, the objective of each group was to explore flaws in websites, programs, and scripts, to retrieve a “flag” (a secret character string) to accumulate a maximum of points. The victory was awarded to the three teams that obtained the highest score at the end of the 48 hours of competition.

3. T_firmware_section (Israel)
The first French players who qualified at the top of the ranking, at the 4th place, are the so-called “Sogeti Aces of Spades,” a semi-professional CTF team from the group Sogeti. As a part of ESILV’s cybersecurity training initiative, the DaVinciCTF combines club activities and engineering school projects to encourage practical learning beyond the classroom and promote cyber and information security across France and the world.
