Cloud Computing and the Future of Societies

Everyone knows that that cloud computing is an unstoppable trend in the IT industry. However, that is no longer the case, because it’s no longer just a trend: it’s not going away any time soon. That’s a reality!

So how did exactly cloud computing become crucial to the growth of societies?

Cloud Computing Encourages Innovation

Success in today’s business environment requires more than just speed. An important factor of growth is innovation too and the ability to develop ideas that have potential in the market and leverage the technologies at hand.

In this case, cloud computing is a much better match than traditional IT infrastructure approaches, because resources are accessed quickly and efficiently, which allows a more practical testing on the ideas and ultimately encourages engineers to become more innovative.

In fact, it is a key element of what companies are looking for as well, where they can obtain user a faster customer feedback on a market trial, which accelerates the workflow of sales, marketing, and human resources too. And so the cycle is complete and each department is encouraged to try more ideas and create new concepts that can be implemented for the benefit of consumers, and societies in general.

Autonomous Cars

These self-driven cars will become safer and safer and more common to the human eye with the power of the cloud.

Taking the example of smartphones, cars will have built-in sensors and advanced cameras that generate plenty of data that will be processed in real time, which means that analyzing it will take place inside the vehicle rather than an external server, also requiring that the process of machine learning and software updates happen in the cloud to avoid errors and glitches.

Society members will be greatly affected by this technology because on one hand, there will be more industry related jobs in demand, and on the other hand it creates a stress-free journey on the roads, despite traffic and renovations that usually frustrate drivers on the go.

Building Sustainable Cities

Projections by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) reveal that 2.5 billion more people will live in cities by 2050.

This rapid urbanization will bring along many obstacles when it comes to the issues of affordable housing, infrastructure, transportation, energy and employment. To bridge this supply-demand gap, authorities should shift focus towards cloud computing.

Why? Because cloud-based technologies will form the backbone of the smart and sustainable cities of tomorrow which will be defined by features including wireless networks, low-power sensors and seamless connectivity that will all create solutions to the problem faced by today’s societies.
