Pole’s Leonard de Vinci team has been awarded the Digital Engineer Trophy of the Engineer of the Future Trophies 2019 organized by the “Usine Nouvelle” and “Usine Digitale” magazines. The award-winning project in the Digital Engineer category is a virtual-reality jacket called Jacketronics.
The Trophies of the Engineer of the Future took place at the Kluster in Paris on December 3. Shortlisted projects were invited to take part in a live pitching session followed by the announcement of the winners.
And the good news: a cross-disciplinary team of students from ESILV (School of Engineering) and IIM (Internet and Multimedia Institute) was called on stage. The four students have been awarded the award in the digital category.
Emmanuel Meneghetti, Audrey Poisson and Madalina Nicolae, all three ESILV 2021 engineering students, and Pierrick Chevron, a fourth-year student at IIM, won the Digital Engineer Trophy 2019 with Jacketronics, a virtual reality jacket. The startup project is supported by the Devinci Startup pre-incubator program and the Devinci Innovation Center.
The Digital Engineer Trophy 2019
This Digital Engineer honour, which is awarded to an engineering student or a young engineer who has developed a digital project, is one of the four categories of the Engineer of the Future Trophies.
The “Usine Digital” magazine states that “this project may involve the digital transformation of an activity, product or equipment or the creation of a digital innovation activity, product or equipment”. The eligibility criteria are based on the potential of the projects for significant technical and business opportunity, and their market potential.
Jacketronics, a transversal project, in the DNA of the Leonardo da Vinci Cluster
Transversality is in the DNA of the Pole Universitaire Leonardo de Vinci, which brings together students from a business school, EMLV, an engineering school, ESILV and a digital school, IIM.
During the course of their programme, the students from the three schools work and study together on team-work based projects and assignments, they team up for students association activities and set up startup projects together, as is the case with the award-winning project of the Digital Engineering Category.
